Delford William “Bill” Bartlett, Jr. of Lewisburg passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012 in the Virginia Commonwealth University Health Center, Richmond, Virginia.
Bill was a heart transplant recipient of 25 years.
Born November 8, 1945 in Rainelle, WV, he was the son of the late Delford W. Bartlett, Sr. and Margaret Marie Cordial Bartlett.
He served in the U.S. Navy, U. S. Air Force National Guard, U. S. Army Reserves, and earned a degree from Bluefield Sate College.
His career included being employed at the Greenbrier Hotel, Greenbrier Airlines as a commercial pilot and Anthony Correctional Center as a correctional officer and instructor from which he retired. He was a member of Lewisburg United Methodist Church, was active in the Greenbrier community as a member and volunteer of many associations which included Greenbrier Artisans, Friends of the Library, CORE Organ Donations, Virginia Inland Sailing Association and Greenbrier Valley Bicycle Club.
He will be missed by his wife, Linda Kincaid Bartlett; two sisters, Patricia Church and husband Douglas of Meadow Bridge, WV, and Twyla Diehl and husband Glen of Renick, WV; a brother, Reney L. Bartlett, Sr. and wife Cleo of Dawson, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
At Bill’s request he will be cremated.
Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements which are incomplete at this time.
